Read The Most Up-To-Date Information Regarding Cost Savings To Be Completed In Queensland

A Perth-based motor trimming industry has started a new range of protective machine deals to the Queensland mining industry which are conserving a number of the state's largest businesses lots of money in substitution parts and precautionary maintenance fees.

Modern motor trimmers has spent over 5 years researching and building a range of ram covers for motors and excavators. The 'ripstop' PVC sleeves eliminate wear and tear, perhaps even tripling the life expectancy of ram seals and chroming, and producing significant expense savings.

The covers, which retail for not more than $1,000, have also been produced for coal shoots, rock crushers and dust extractors, and are proving popular having procurement specialists and mine planners who have rapidly acquired on the savings and conveniences they offer.

MMT managing director Garry Spouge said the covers give protection towards stones, dirt and salt pitting the machinery's rods, which can lead to the tearing of ram seals. They have been developed to enable simple self-installation by mechanics.

"Installing new ram seals can take few mechanics around half a day, and have apparent safety implications, particularly where cranes or cherry pickers are essential," he said.

"It's absolutely a pricey exercise regarding manpower and with machinery getting down or obsolete for a few hours.

"That's why we've developed our ram covers to be efficiently installed, they drop on and are protected either side by a patented clamp; the whole process normally takes about 45 minutes and can enhance the life of the rod and seals by 2 to 3 times.

"Since an excavator ram may cost in excessive amount of $50,000, the price savings are really stunning, which describe why the demand for our covers is quickly expanding."

One of the first industries to match the preventative covers to its total truck fleet was Western-Australia, at its mine in far north WA.

Rio Tinto in Queensland and has simply placed a vast order for the sleeves, which MMT is producing in a range of security colors, including yellow and orange.

"We're learning that the more progressive businesses are seeing the big charge features, and our orders have extra by 20 per cent simply because first launching into the Queensland industry only 6 months ago," Mr Spouge added.

"We're also working with a number of the bigger miners to custom design protective sleeves for other plant and machinery, and this bespoke, tailor-made service is a location which we are going to be looking to increase into in the near future."

The research and designing work performed by MMT on the protective ram covers is an add-on to the company's core business, which is based on the supply, installation and servicing of premium suspension seats and also seating products to the Australian mining, design, engineering, building and transport sectors.

The company is Western Australia's only authorized supplier and repairer for German business ISRI, which is widely well known as the company of the world's most modern driver and passenger seating products.
